Virginia Bound

Tomorrow we embark on a great adventure. To make a long story short, a few months ago we heard of a camp near Roanoke, Virginia in need of an associate director. Even though we are happy here Carey felt the need to respond. AND, here we are flying out for the final decision tomorrow. We truly never thought it would go this far. God has continued to open doors and we're excited for what He has planned for our future.
Please pray for us! We are torn both ways.....we LOVE our church here. Carey loves his job at Rockhurst. We love being close to my family. What are we thinking? Right? :) But we also want to serve the Lord in ministry and be open to what He wants for our future. Camp Eagle seems like such an exciting place (we can't wait to be there tomorrow!) as well as Shenandoah Baptist Church. We can definitely see how our gifts could be used in Virginia. We need much wisdom over the next week! Pray that God would make it very clear to both them and us. If the answer is "GO" we'll be thrilled. If the answer is "STAY" we'll be thrilled too. It's an exciting place to be and we are looking forward to what God has planned for our future! Stay tuned. :)

I also wanted to share one of my favorite songs. It seems like I can't sing it without tears these days. So thankful for a God who gives joy and hope in every situation.

Jesus, I My Cross Have Taken

1. Jesus, I my cross have taken,
All to leave and follow Thee.
Destitute, despised, forsaken,
Thou from hence my all shall be.
Perish every fond ambition,
All I’ve sought or hoped or known.
Yet how rich is my condition!
God and heaven are still my own.

2. Let the world despise and leave me,
They have left my Savior, too.
Human hearts and looks deceive me;
Thou art not, like them, untrue.
O while Thou dost smile upon me,
God of wisdom, love, and might,
Foes may hate and friends disown me,
Show Thy face and all is bright.

3. Man may trouble and distress me,
’Twill but drive me to Thy breast.
Life with trials hard may press me;
Heaven will bring me sweeter rest.
Oh, ’tis not in grief to harm me
While Thy love is left to me;
Oh, ’twere not in joy to charm me,
Were that joy unmixed with Thee.

4. Go, then, earthly fame and treasure,
Come disaster, scorn and pain
In Thy service, pain is pleasure,
With Thy favor, loss is gain
I have called Thee Abba Father,
I have stayed my heart on Thee
Storms may howl, and clouds may gather;
All must work for good to me.

5. Soul, then know thy full salvation
Rise o’er sin and fear and care
Joy to find in every station,
Something still to do or bear.
Think what Spirit dwells within thee,
Think what Father’s smiles are thine,
Think that Jesus died to win thee,
Child of heaven, canst thou repine.

6. Haste thee on from grace to glory,
Armed by faith, and winged by prayer.
Heaven’s eternal days before thee,
God’s own hand shall guide us there.
Soon shall close thy earthly mission,
Soon shall pass thy pilgrim days,
Hope shall change to glad fruition,
Faith to sight, and prayer to praise.

  1. Wow Tali! What an adventure you and your family are under taking. How wonderful that you all are open to what God may have you undertake. I pray that God will clearly show you and Carey the path you are to follow.

    On a side note, I grew up in northern Virginia, just south of Washington, D.C. (16 years). I then went to college at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, which is just a bit north of where you will be. Spent a lot of time in the Shenandoah area, which is absolutely beautiful.

    I pray for safe travels for you all as well.

  2. I'm torn in reading this. I'm rejoicing with you at the possibility, but oh so very sad at the thought of not having you and your family here. You are so precious to all of us! And we have been blessed by your ministry in Kids4Truth and your skillful teaching of the music class. We'll be praying for you to know God's leading without a shadow of doubt - and wherever that leads, we'll rejoice with you!
