Lucy and Annie

The girls had appointments with their pediatrician today. Remind me not to make any appointment so close to nap time ever again. Thanks. Lucy was wild because she was trying to stay awake and it was just a little crazy trying to talk with Dr. Kimmel while she was going nuts. Thankfully, Annie was a little angel. I wouldn't have wanted to add a screaming baby to the mix.

The girls look great! Lucy is right around 50th percentile in both height and weight. She is super advanced in speech and fine motor skills. She does these at 3-4 yr. old level.  She's still at a normal 2 yr. old level for things like running, climbing and jumping though. Kinda clumsy this one. :) She had to get an MMR shot today. Poor baby. Yes, we are on a delayed vaccine schedule. I'm pretty picky about the whole process. She was not a fan of the shot but does like her blue Scooby band-aid. Lucy is also potty training! She's doing a great job at home. I am very proud of her. Gotta work up the courage to start taking her out in just panties! =O

Annie is a little peanut. 12.7 lbs. So tiny! It's no wonder she still wakes up every few hours to eat at night. I've started giving her a full bottle of formula before bed and it seems to be helping. Hopefully she'll start getting better about sleep!! She's 86th percentile in height though. And she's advanced in other areas. She's great at tracking and rolling. She loves to be standing up and jumping. She is such a little mover! Her legs just kick constantly. Not so cuddly these days. Life is too exciting! She is a very happy baby during the days.....as long as she's getting attention. Haha! She is getting better about playing on her own though. She loves to be sung to and played with. She will sing and giggle during "Pat-a-Cake" and other rhyme songs. She is such a smiley baby. I love it!

Side note-- Favorite Parenting Item.
We got out some of Lucy's baby toys for Annie to play with recently. My all time favorite baby "toy" are these flash cards. Lucy LOVED them as a baby. I liked flash cards because Lucy would roll/crawl around and pick one up at a time. I could tell her which animal (or thing) was on it and make the animal noise. They are touch and feel and super colorful. Lucy was doing animal noises at 8 months old because of these! We were looking through them with Annie today. It's fun to watch Lucy "teach" Annie this time around.  HIGHLY recommend. You can get them at Barnes and Noble. DK brand. I use an educator's discount (early homeschooling!) and they are pretty affordable. Here's a video of Lucy doing the tiger noise at 9 months. Ahh! So cute! She has grown up too fast!

Sisters, Sisters

Lucy and Annie definitely look like sisters! There are slight differences between them--Annie has bigger eyes. Lucy was bald and is now blonde--which I still have a hard time believing I had a child with blonde hair. But anyway... Annie has dark hair that will likely stay in and remain dark. Annie has a little tip on her nose and Lucy doesn't. They have different fingers and toes. And completely opposite personalities. But despite their differences, there's no doubt these girlies are sisters!

See for yourself!

Lucy Lu at 2

26 months! What is Lucy up to?

*Loving her new role as BIG SISTER.
-She's teaching Annie the ropes around here. Lucy can't wait for Annie to be big enough to play! Lucy improvises though....coloring on her, giving her make-overs, etc. She tries to soothe Annie when she cries. Lucy gives her her binky and says, "It's ok Annie. You can stop crying." I am thankful for her sweetness! Not much jealousy. Sometimes Lucy gets sad that I can't spend as much time with her. But she LOVES Annie!

*Growing!
-Lucy weighs 28 lbs. and wears 2T-3T clothes. (Ahem, we're still working on potty training. She's not very interested in it. We're going to have a show down here in a week or two. Mommy will win!)

*Eating.
-Lucy is kind of a picky eater. She loves her milk and junk food. Ha! Chocolate, fruit snacks, cookies, chips, etc. She doesn't get these fun things as often as she might like. :) She does like mac n' cheese, lunch meat, cheese, eggs, green beans, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, yogurt, applesauce, oranges, apples, grapes, blackberries, chicken nuggets--especially Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets! Basically "kid" food. Except she loves coffee. Totally her mama's girl! We are working on getting her to eat more like we do. It's a daily challenge!!

*Talking, talking, talking, talking, talking....
-...well beyond her years. Her vocabulary is basically unlimited. She says everything with great enthusiasm and much drama. Huge personality! She is always able to say what she wants and enjoys using big words. She speaks in full sentences. She is great at comparing things. She has a huge imagination! She loves to tell you how she is feeling. "Mommy, I'm just grumpy (or sad or happy)." She's great at making demands. Haha. :) "Mommy, I want apple juice. No, I don't want the blue cup. I want a red one." Etc.... =) It's fun to converse with Lucy! You never know what she'll say.

*Music.
-Lucy loves to sing and be sung to! She is a pro at most princess and Disney songs. She also loves her Sunday school songs and the classics---like "Ring Around the Rosy." She often breaks out in song. She was singing the B-I-B-L-E at the top of her lungs while we were grocery shopping last week. She would yell, "The Bible!" at the end. We were getting looks. :)

*Reading.
-Storytime is the best part of the day! Especially if it's with Daddy.

*Movies.
-I try to limit them....but she LOVES watching movies. Princess and Tinkerbell movies are her favorite.

*Playing.
-Lucy has lots of energy! She loves to play at the park and the gym. She is super social. Playtime is always better with friends!

*Learning.
-Lucy knows all of her colors and basic shapes. She can count to 12. She can recognize her name and spell it. She can sing the alphabet, but can only correctly identify a few letters. Like "A" and "B" and "O". We're working on them.

Lucy keeps me on my toes. Everyday is a new adventure. I am so thankful for my sweet 2 year old!

Finger Painting

I knew the day Lucy discovered finger painting would be the best (and quite possibly the messiest) day of her life. It's because of the messy part that I have put it off until now. Ha! Well, I wanted to do some Valentine's Day projects that required painting. We took a little trip to Target and got our supplies. Lucy was so excited! I'm sure she is now wondering why I have kept her from this fabulous activity her whole life. Yes, it was the best day ever.

She'll probably ask me to finger paint multiple times per day--like she does with Play-Doh. Another activity we discovered just recently because it's messy. Love my little artist!

Play date with Lucy

Lucy loves her baby sister.

But she is a little starved for my attention these days.

Today I decided Mommy and Lucy needed to go on a date.
You gotta love 60 degree days in January!
Had fun playing at the park with this sweet girlie today.

Annie tagged along. But she just snoozed while we played. :)
Thanks, Annie for cooperating!

Come on, Mom. Play!

So fun!
We even went to Starbucks after the park.
Lucy loves having "coffee" (a.k.a.- an entire short cup of whipped cream) with Mommy. :)

New Earrings

Miss Lucy got her ears pierced! Check out this cutie pie.

I have been wanting to get them done for a while and finally just took her! I brought Carey along which was a mistake. I think daddies should be blissfully unaware of the pain involved. He has already informed me that he will not be coming along when I get baby girl #2's done. :)
Lucy did pretty well. She cried and it made me sad. I think she was more scared than anything. But the girl said she did better than most kids. I wouldn't want to be there for "most kids"! After we were done we took her to Barnes and Noble to play in the kids section. She forgot all about her ears. Now she gets a little annoyed when I try to clean them, but she's doing great. And I think she looks like quite the little lady!

While we were at Claire's getting her ears pierced Lucy had fun looking at all of the pretty earrings on display. I know that she's going to love picking out different earrings to wear! I plan to get her some Ariel and Minnie Mouse earrings for our Disney trip in September. Can't wait! I love having a little girl. :)

Recently

Wow. I have been so bad at keeping up with my blog these days. Having a wild toddler running around while fighting pregnancy fatigue and nausea has had me a little tied up. :) But it is time for an update!
We're enjoying summertime even though it has been extremely hot this week! We've played inside a lot and played a Chick-fil-A a lot. Chick-fil-A is Mommy and Lucy's new favorite hang out. ;) Miss Lucy would play in that play-place for an hour if I let her (maybe more!). I get a little teary-eyed thinking of my baby being big enough to climb up in that huge thing all by herself and knowing right where the slide is to come back down to me. *Sniff* I am happy we'll be adding a new baby soon since Lucy is such a big girl now! I'm making this her 19 month update since later this week we'll be finding out the gender of our baby and I plan to devote a blog post to this exciting event!!

Lucy: 19 Months Old

Lucy, you are growing up too fast for Mommy. It's hard to believe that 1 year ago you looked like this.

My little chubby baby. Not even crawling. No teethers. No hair. But even back then you had lots of smiles and tons of personality. You were much easier 1 year ago. You stayed in the same place when I put you down. You ate whatever I fed you. You could fall asleep anywhere. Now you're a wiggly bundle of energy and you keep me on my toes! You love to run around and play at the park. Everyone is a friend to you! (Although you're still not a pro at sharing.) You talk all of the time. ALL of the time. I made a list of the different words you can say....I stopped at 200 and could have kept going! You usually speak in sentences. I have lots of fun carrying on conversations with my little Lucy Bug. Your favorite activity is coloring. You are a wonderful artist and I love displaying your work on the fridge. It's the most beautiful art I have ever seen!

You love to watch movies and ask for them all of the time. I limit them but am thankful you are happily entertained so I can get work done sometimes! Your favorite movie is 101 Dalmatians. You love all of the puppies. :) Other activities you enjoy are puzzles and reading. You still love music and sang the entire alphabet A-Z this month! I was amazed and very proud. You are a great listener and often repeat words or sayings after hearing them only once. You are sometimes a picky eater but we're working on that. You like noddles a lot and peaches and oranges. Grapes, apples and berries are favorites too. You wear size 18-24 month clothes and even fit into some 2T shirts! Your hair is also growing (yay!) and I can put it into a cute little ponytail. I think it's adorable but Daddy thinks it makes you look like a ninja. That's silly. :) Here are a few pictures from this month of fun! I love you sweet Lucy and wouldn't trade a moment.....even if I am tired. I'm very happy and love being your mommy!

You've made some big messes with food recently. You know the fast-track way to the bath tub! Silly girl!

You love playing with Daddy. He can get the biggest smiles and giggles out of you!

You are such a sweetheart. You love your toys and dolls. Here you are reading to Dolly.

You baked cookies with Mommy for the first time this month! They were yummy!

My beautiful Girl.

18 Months

This is a couple of weeks late. Our life has been especially crazy over the last few weeks! But wanted to give you all Lucy's 18 month update. Sometimes when she's running around like a crazy woman, making messes and talking to me like a 4 year old (ok not quite...but it feels like it sometimes!), I forget what it was like to have this tiny snuggly baby.

And when she giggles and smiles at me with a mouth FULL of teeth I like to look back and remember the good ol' gummy days. :)

Ok enough reminiscing. I love every moment of being Lucy's mommy! We have a blast playing every day and I am so so thankful for her.

Here's what she's been up to lately--

*Talking. I counted out how many words she can say and it's almost 200! She always combines 2 or 3 words and often speaks in entire sentences. Talking is totally her hobby. She loves it. Typical girl. =)
*Playing. She is constantly on the move playing with everything she can! We took her swimming and she loves playing in the pool! She soaks up fun wherever she can find (or create!) it.
*Coloring. Lucy LOVES to color. It keeps her busy for a long time!
*Singing. She loves singing along to songs and listening to me sing. Sometimes I get tired of singing non-stop. But I'm glad so likes music! :)
*Sleeping. She sleeps through the night and takes 1-2 naps each day. I think we are nearing just 1 afternoon nap though.
*Princesses. We have started to introduce the Disney princesses to Lucy since we're going to Disney world in a few months. :) Guess who her favorite is? ARIEL. She loves Ariel. She sings Ariel's song and has an Ariel barbie and jewelry and begged for an Ariel swimsuit. Haha!
*Growing. She wears size 18-24 month clothes. Although she's still pretty tiny. Trying to get a little more meat on her bones!
*Helping. She loves to throw things away for me or helping with laundry. She's going to be a great big sister when the baby comes!

Tons more but there's the highlights for ya. I am going to attempt potty training soon if life decides to slow down a little. I haven't had a chance to work on it but I think Lucy is definitely ready to start. Wish me luck! =) Here are a few recent pics of my BIG GIRL!
